Client: Weston Homes PLC
Duration: 8 weeks
Location: River Nene, Peterborough
Robert Nicholas Works: 90m long temporary dam installation with environmental controls & dewatering, dredging, demolition and installation of gabion basket wall.
Weston Homes PLC developed this derelict rail yard into a mixed residential/commercial development overlooking the River Nene in the centre of Peterborough. The waterfront had been neglected for decades and required extensive clearance and restoration.
We installed 120.00m of floating silt boom and desilted the river, removing debris including wreck of an old working barge along the way. On completion of the dredging we installed 90.00m of our EUR125 Geodesign Barrier which provided a safe dry working environment for demolition of the dilapidated timber pile quay followed by construction of a tiered gabion wall along the full face of the development. Combining enabling, temporary and permanent works in house allowed us to give the customer guaranteed project delivery.
